Matcha Latte Recipe

I’m a coffee person, occasionally I enjoy a cup of tea. I even have been consuming matcha green tea for quite sometimes. On a every day basis I prefer to mix it with hot water and luxuriate in. But ever since I attempted it with milk I’m in love with it. Matcha has slightly Bitter note to it, Adding milk and honey to my matcha has reduced its bitterness and made it more creamy and fragrant. I even have been having fun with it this fashion from that day onwards.

About Matcha Latte Recipe

Matcha is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves, traditionally consumed in East Asia. It’s special in two facets of farming and processing: the green tea plants used for matcha are shade-grown for 3 to 4 weeks before harvest, and the stems and veins are removed during processing.

During shaded growth, the plant  produces more theanine and caffeine. The powdered type of matcha is consumed in a different way from tea leaves or tea bags, because it is suspended in a liquid, typically water or milk.

Matcha is my latest discovery. I even have seen many recipes use them in baking as well. So i purchased a jar of it from amazon. It is sort of expensive however the flavour is unbeatable. Specially when it’s made into this latte with milk and honey. Not only the flavour matcha has so many health advantages in them.

Ingredients for Matcha Latte

Matcha Green Tea

East Asians have traditionally consumed matcha, a finely ground powder made out of specially grown and processed green tea leaves. Before harvest, matcha green tea plants are shade-grown for 3 to 4 weeks. The stems and veins are then cut out during processing. When grown in shade, Camellia sinensis yields more theanine and caffeine. Because matcha powder is suspended in a liquid, normally water or milk, it’s consumed in a different way than tea leaves or tea bags.

Milk

Full cream milk is utilized in this recipe, as a substitute of normal milk you need to use oat, soy or almond milk could be used.

Honey

I prefer using liquid sweetener, you need to use agave or maple syrup too.
