Now back to the recipe. This one is a standard recipe in southern a part of India. Each place have their very own way of constructing Erissery. . Its pretty easy to make, however the taste was awesome. I made this for Onam and we totally enjoyed that meal.

Make Erissery

  1. Soak Cow peas over night in plenty of water. Drain the water and Pressure cook it with a some water for 3 whistle. Let it simmer for five mins. Switch off the flame and let the pressure go all by itself. Remove and put aside.
  2. Now take cubed yam in a kadai and canopy it with water. Add salt to it.cover and cook for 15-20 mins till the yam is totally cooked.
  3. Add the cooked cowpeas on this and blend well.
  4. Now take the grinding ingredients in a mixer and make right into a high quality paste.
  5. Pour this over the cooked yam and cow peas and blend well.
  6. Let it simmer for 10 mins.
  7. Now make the seasoning. Heat oil and add mustard, urad dal and curry leaves on this. Let it sizzle and crack.
  8. Pour this over the curry and blend well.
  9. Serve with rice

Take all of your ingredients

 

Take the grinding ingredients in a mixer

 

and make right into a high quality puree

 

Take yam in a kadai

 

add salt to it

 

 

 

let it come up over the yam

 

cover and cook

 

till the yam is cooked

 

add the cooked cow peas in it

 

and blend well

 

add the coconut mixture

 

and blend well

 

cook till they gets thicken

 

make tempering

 

pour over the curry
