One pot meal are at all times a life saver. Since you haven’t got to baby sit near the stove in cooking rice individually, masala for the rice individually, layering them and cooking them together. Just throw all the things in a pressure cooker or a pot and they’ll handle themselves.
About Sambar Rice Recipe
Specially this sambar sadam is my absolute favourite, since it is loaded with a number of veggies, cooked till they’re mushy and so they just melt in your mouth. You do not need heavy accompaniment with this too. Just serve it with fried papad and pickle and you’re in business. I hope you’ll do this out and let me know what you think that.
Methods to Make Sambar Rice Recipe
Prepare Ingredients
Wash rice and dal well in a number of water. Wash and chop vegetables.
Seasoning for Sambar Rice
Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add within the tempering ingredients and saute for a min. Now add in onions, tomatoes and toss well. Cook them for five mins. Add in salt, sugar and all of the spice powders and saute them for a min. Now add in all of the veggies and toss well with the masala. Cook them for five to 10 mins till the raw smell leaves from them.
Cooking Sambar Rice
Pour in water. Add in dal, rice and tamarind extract. Bring this to a boil and canopy the pressure cooker. Pressure cook for five whistle and simmer for 15 mins. Now switch off the flame and allow them to steam escape all by itself.
Serving Sambar Rice
Drizzle in some ghee and blend well. Serve with papad and pickle.
Sambar Rice gets its taste from the special sambar powder.

- Black pepper – 1 tsp
- Coriander seeds- 2 tbsp
- Dry Red Chilli 8
- Dessicated Coconut – ½ cup
- Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp

Take all of your ingredients |
You have to all country veggies |
Take dal and rice and soak them |
Heat oil in a pressure cooker..Add in tempering items |
Add in onions and tomatoes |
Saute them for some time |

Version 2: Restaurant Style Sambar Rice
This version of sambar rice is restaurant style during which rice and dal is cooked individually and special sambar powder is added for taste.
Ingredients for Sambar Rice
- Rice – 1
- Toor Dal / Tuvaram Paruppu – ½ cup
- Small Onion (shallots) – 10
- Tomato – 2 chopped
- Carrot – 1 chopped
- Raw Banana / Raw Plantain / Vazhakai- 1 peeled and chopped
- Brinjal – 1 chopped
- Ladysfinger / Okra – 4 chopped
- Potato – 1 peeled and chopped
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Tamarind Pulp 3 tbsp
- Water – 41/2 cup
- Ghee – 1 tblspn to drizzle within the last
For Tempering
- Oil – ¼ cup
- Mustard Seeds / Kaduku – 1 tsp
- Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam – 1 tsp
- Fenugreek Seeds / Methi / Vendayam – 1 tsp
- Dry Red Chilli – 3
- Curry leaves – a handful
To Roast & Powder:
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Black pepper – 1 tsp
- Coriander seeds- 2 tbsp
- Dry Red Chilli 8
- Desiccated Coconut – ½ cup
- Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
Methods to Make Sambar Rice
- Wash rice and dal well in a number of water. Take it in a pressure cooker. Add water and cook for 3 whistle. Put aside.
- Heat a pan. add within the roasting ingredients one after the other and toast till golden. Remove to a blender and powder it.
- Heat oil in an enormous kadai or any pot. Add seasoning ingredients. Now add in onions, tomatoes and toss well. Cook them for five mins. Add in turmeric powder and blend well. Season with salt, saute them for a min.
- Now add in all of the veggies and toss well with the masala. Cook them for five to 10 mins till the raw smell leaves from them. Pour in water. tamarind extract. Cook till veggies are cooked.
- Add within the powdered sambar masala. mix well. Add in cooked rice and dal. Mix well.
- Drizzle in some ghee and blend well. Serve with papad and pickle.
