Summer is here, meaning less time within the kitchen and more salads, juices, porridges is on the menu. This kerala kanji recipe is considered one of my favorite. Easy to make and taste so delicious.
I used kerala red rice to make this kanji. It’s broken matta ari which is ideal for kanji or porridges.

Broken Matta Kanji Recipe Step by Step pictures
1)That is broken matta rice
2)Take it in a bowl and wash it rather well. At the very least 2 to three times
3)Drain it
4)Take moong dal in a pressure cooker and roast it for two to three mins
5)Now it’s well roasted
6)Add within the rice
7)Add water
8)Add curry leaves
9)Cover and pressure cook for 4 whistle
10)Now it is finished
11)I added this to a big pot, together with some water to regulate the feel
12)Add coconut
13)Add salt and blend well
14)heat ghee or coconut oil in a pan
15)Add in chopped onions and curry leaves
16)Fry till golden
17)Pour it into the kanji
18)Mix well
19)Serve
