Let me introduce you to this amazing Indian spice mix called Chaat Masala. Chaat masala is an Indian spice mix which incorporates Indian sulfur salt (kala namak), cumin, cayenne, and other ingredients. It’s adds a tremendous sour and spicy flavor!

It is a refreshing summer chaat masala salad inspired by a kachumber salad. I used onion, tomatoes, cucumbers, and radishes as a base and add some tofu for protein, a lot of cilantro for the herbs, and lettuce for some extra crunch and to make it more of a filling meal.

It has an easy dressing of lime juice, a great deal of black pepper, and chaat masala.

In the event you’re wondering why I’d you’ll add eggy-smelling kala namak to the combination, well chaat masala has been utilized in Indian cuisine for various flavors. They’re highly regarded and utilized in many snacks, street food, or over fruits and any which way in India. It would smell barely eggy, however the taste is sort of spicy sour patch sort of flavor profile. And that flavor works splendidly on this chopped salad. You certainly should try it!

Notes

Chaat masala is an Indian spice mix which you could find in Indian stores or online. In the event you don’t have chaat masala, you need to use a mixture of  1/2 teaspoon of Indian sulphur salt(kala namak) and 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin as an alternative.
Storage: The salad is best made fresh and served immediately, due to the salt within the dressing. The onions, cucumbers, and other veggies will keep losing moisture as they sit within the dressing, and it’s going to clean out all the dressing flavor. To make ahead, refrigerate the veggies and dressing individually and mix just before serving(store upto 2 days)
This recipe is of course gluten-free, oil-free, and nut-free.
To make Soyfree , use 1.25 cups cooked chickpeas or other beans or chickpea tofu as an alternative.
