Bread Halwa Ingredients
Bread – Use white bread slices for making this halwa. Brown bread may be used as an alternative of white bread. Be sure you remove the crust out of the bread. The color of the bread halwa is set by the color of the fried bread. So fry the bread in generous amount of ghee till golden brown and crispy.
Sugar – If you happen to are using milkmaid when making bread halwa, add less sugar.
Milk – Full fat milk is added into fried bread. Bread is cooked in milk until it disintegrates and thickens.
Ghee – Bread needs to be fried till crispy in ghee which reinforces the flavour.
Dried Fruits & Nuts – cashews and kishmish is common ingredient utilized in halwa. You may add any nuts as you favor.
Cardamom Powder – optional may be skipped too.

Bread Halwa in Three Easy Steps
Frying Dried Fruits & Bread
Remove the crust of the bread and chop it into small pieces. Heat ghee in a pan, add in cashews and fry till golden.Add in kishmish and fry. Remove it and put aside. Now add in chopped bread within the ghee and fry till golden brown.
Cooking Bread in Milk
Now pour milk over fried bread and blend well. Mash the bread into the milk and cook till it thickens. You will have to maintain mashing the bread into the milk. The bread will disintegrate and begin to thicken.
Adding sugar
Add in sugar and blend well. Keep cooking till it starts to depart the edges. Finally add a tblspn of ghee and blend well. Add in fried nuts and cardamom powder and blend well. Serve.

The best way to Make Bread Halwa (Step-wise Pictures)
1)Take bread slices. I used white bread. You need to use brown bread as well.

2)Remove the crust off. Bread crust doesn’t cook evenly when making halwa. So I prefer to remove the crust. You may add the crust in food processor and make breadcrumbs.

3)Cut it into small pieces.

4)Fry cashews and kishmish in ghee, strain and put aside.

5)Add bread within the ghee

6)Fry the bread till golden brown.

7)That is the color you’re going for.

8)Pour in milk.

9)Mix bread with the milk so the fried bread disintegrates and cooks in milk.

10)Keep cooking till the bread thickens.

11)Add in sugar.

12)Mix well until the sugar melts completely.

13)Cook this halwa on medium high heat till it starts to depart the edges of the pan.

14)I prefer to add a tbsp of ghee in my bread halwa and cook till it looks halwa consistency.

15)Add ground cardamom.

16)Add in fried nuts and dried fruits.

17)Mix well.

18)bread halwa done and able to serve.
