In Tamil, the word Pidi means to carry someone, and it’s also used to measure something, akin to Oru Pidi Arisi, which suggests one fistful of rice.
Kozhukkattai, also often known as kozhukatta, is a preferred South Indian dumpling produced from rice flour and crammed with grated coconut, jaggery, or chakkavaratti. Kozhukattai, while typically sweet, can occasionally be filled with a savoury filling. Kerala Christians prepare it on the Saturday before Palm Sunday, hence the name Kozhukatta Saturday. Modak is an identical dish that is ready in other parts of India. That is a preferred dish for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
